Assign the moderator role to a member of your team. Add a verified status checkmark for a user in the chat.

What is a Moderator?

A moderator has certain powers in the chat area.

He/she can:

  1. Delete a specific comment so that it disappears from the conversation;

  2. Block a user’s access to the chat area.

Caution! These actions cannot be reversed once executed.

What is a "Verified" Identification?

This feature puts a small blue checkmark next to the user's name. This method is often used for artists, speakers, high-profile people, or anyone you want to give authority to in your event's chat room.

Think about it! Anyone can change their username in the chat room. With verified identification, users will clearly see who the people involved in your event are.

How to add moderator access

To add a user as a virtual event moderator, that user must first get a viewing link. Please find below two ways to issue a viewing link:

  • Send a complimentary ticket by email

  • Create an order from the box office

You could also use the link from another existing order.

When you receive the viewing link, you will have to modify its URL by following the steps below:

  1. Check the email sent by your event advisor to find your event number (6 digits) and your event code (long series of letters and numbers);

  2. Copy/Paste the link in your browser without pressing Enter;

  3. In this link, replace the word "video" with "plugins/chat/moderator" and add the event code immediately after your event number. All of this, while keeping the rest of the link;

  4. Click Enter to confirm your modifications.

  5. The following message should appear on the screen.

Example :

Here is the URL that will be used by the moderator:

Replace the word video with "plugins/chat/moderator/" and add the event code after the event number:

To ensure everything works, click on the original viewing link and ask a colleague to write a comment in the event chat. Then, try to block the participant's access or delete the comment.

How to remove moderator rights

For the most part, you will have to follow the steps to give moderator access, except that at the end of the URL you will add "/ remove"

Example

Here is the URL for which I want to remove the moderator rights:

Make the same changes to give access (change “video” to “plugins/chat/moderator” and add the code provided after the number of the event). Then add "/ remove" to the end of the URL, put it in the browser, and hit enter.

It should look like this:

How to add a Verified ID

To add a verified status to a user, the steps are similar to those for a moderator.

  1. Check the email sent by your event advisor to find your event number (6 digits) and your event code (long series of letters and numbers);

  2. Find or create the viewing link that will be used by the verified user;

  3. In this link, replace the word "video" with "plugins/chat/verified" and add the event code immediately after your event number. All this while keeping the rest of the link;

  4. Put the link in your browser and hit enter.

The following message should appear on the screen.

Example

Here is the URL that will be used by the verified person:

Replace the word "video" with "plugins/chat/verified/" and add the event code after the event number:

How to Remove a Verified ID

For the most part, you will have to follow the steps to give the verified ID, except that at the end of the URL you will add "/ remove"

Example

Here is the URL for which I want to remove the verified mention:

Make the same changes to give access (change “video” to “plugins/chat/verified” and add the code provided after the event number). I then add "/ remove" to the end of the URL, put it in your browser, and hit enter.

It should look like this:

To ensure everything works, click on the original viewing link and write a comment in the event chat. You should see a blue checkmark beside your name.

If you want the same link to be verified and moderator access, you will need to do both operations with the same link.
