Limited or non-existent Wi-Fi availability at your event site is likely to impact communication and the experience of your attendees.

That's why Thepointofsale.com has designed its validation application to operate in offline mode, ensuring continuity of service even in the absence of an Internet connection.

However, proper preparation is required to ensure efficient validation of your attendees' passes.

Before your event, connect your validation device to an operational Wi-Fi network to download the event database content into the validation application. You will then have access to all the information you need to validate your participants' passes.

To do so, follow the steps below.

WARNING!

  • In the absence of a Wi-Fi connection, communication between validation devices is impossible, meaning the same ticket could be validated more than once by the system.

  • Any ticket sold after the last synchronization of validation data on the device will not be recognized by it, as updating validation data on the device requires a Wi-Fi connection.

  • It is essential to keep your user account connected until you have access to a Wi-Fi network again for the procedure to run smoothly.

Procedure

Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network Before Use

  1. Connect each validation device to an operational Wi-Fi network.

  2. Once connected, log in to your account on each validation device. Enter your account email and password, then click Login.

Please note that you need an Internet connection to proceed.

  3. Select your event, and click Validate passes to download the pass validation information automatically.

N.B. To validate passes from the attendee list, please download the data from the List tab when connected to Wi-Fi.

Set Up the Validation Application Before the Event

To ensure that your event runs smoothly, even in the absence of a Wi-Fi network, you need to set up the validation application accordingly, before the event begins.

  1. In the application's left-hand menu, click Settings.

  2. Under Validation options, click Primary data source.

  3. Select the Offline (slow connections) option.

As a result, the application will prioritize pass validation in offline mode, without trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Warning! If you're in a place where the network is lacking or is unstable, and you leave the Online mode activated, your device's battery may drain more quickly, as it will continuously seek to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Updating Reports in the Management Tool

To ensure the integration of your device's validation data into Thepointofsale.com’s validation report, please connect it to an operational Wi-Fi network. Then, once it has ended, reaccess the event.

Sharing Mobile Data

Not keen on offline validation? Consider sharing your mobile phone's data instead.

This option, which does not require a lot of data, could greatly simplify your validation process.

Wi-Fi Hotspot Rental

To solve any Wi-Fi connection problems, Thepointofsale.com offers you the possibility to rent Wi-Fi hotspots to ensure a reliable Internet connection throughout your event.

Our hotspots use a SIM card to capture and redistribute the 4G or 5G network as a Wi-Fi signal. To use our hotspots, your venue must have a stable, high-performance LTE, 4G or 5G network connection.
