How to prepare for ticket validation when the Wi-Fi network will be weak or non-existent

If you expect to have weak or no Wi-Fi at your event site, you should know that you can use the validation app without being connected to the internet. However, it is essential to be prepared.

First, you will need to connect to a Wi-Fi network to connect to the validation app and synchronize your event database.

IMPORTANT!

  • If you have several validation devices, they will not be able to sync up if they are not connected to the internet. As a result, the same ticket could be validated several times on different devices.

  • Since the internet is needed in order to synchronize the validation data on the device, this means that if a ticket was sold even a few minutes after the last synchronization, the device will be unable to validate it.

Connect to a Wi-Fi network beforehand

  1. Connect to a Wi-Fi network.

  2. While you are on Wi-Fi, be sure to log a user in on each of the validation devices you will be using at your event. You cannot connect to the app without the internet.

  3. Select your event and click on Validate passes to automatically download the information you will need.

Note: If you plan to use the list as a validation mode, you must open it (by selecting the list tab) while connected to the internet to download its contents.

Steps to take in the validation app

  1. In the left-hand menu of the app, go to the Settings module.

  2. In the Validation Options section, change the Data Source.

  3. By choosing the Offline mode, the app will not attempt to connect to a Wi-Fi network and will focus on offline validation.

Report updates in the management tool

After your event, connect to an internet network and go back in to your event so that the validation information on your device can be reflected in the validation report in the Thepointofsale.com management tool.

In any case, you be aware that it is possible to connect your validation device to your personal cell phone hotspot. Our app uses very little data and this option may make things easier.
