The amounts on the ticket inform the buyer of the price, fees, taxes, and total amount.

Rates

This amount represents your unit price from the Costs section in the Rates tab of your event.

For a unit price of $20.00, the price indicated on the ticket will be $20.00.

Fees

This amount represents the total ticketing fees, the organizer fee (if applicable), and the transaction fee before taxes are applied.

Calculating Fees Shown On The Ticket

The formula for calculating fees before taxes is:

Ticketing Fee (taxes not included)

+

Organizer Fee (taxes included)

+

Transaction Fee

=

Fees displayed on the ticket

For example, for a $20.00 ticket with an Organizer Fee* of $0.00 and using our merchant account, the calculation is as follows:

  • Ticketing Fee: ((2%*$20.00) + $0.79) = $1.19

  • Organizer Fee: $0.00

  • Transaction Fee: $20.00 + $0.00 x 2.9% = $0.58

Using the formula we get: $1.19 + $0.00 + $0.58 = $1.77

*Please note that the organizer fee only applies to specific organizers under contract with Thepointofsale.com, hence the $0.00 example. For more details, please contact your account manager.

Taxes

If you entered a tax number in your Organization account, the taxes displayed include taxes on the unit price and ticketing.

If you do not have a tax number, this amount represents the taxes payable on ticketing fees.

Exclusions

Taxes included in the Organizer Fee are presented in the Fees field and are not part of the Taxes field on the ticket.

A detailed breakdown of taxes can be found in your Event Sales Report.

Total

This amount represents the total ticket price, including fees and taxes.

Buyers pay this amount when purchasing a ticket for your event.
